If you have already used England once in the group stage, you cannot use them again. Move on, find a different group winner in today's fixtures, and keep England in reserve for the Round of 16, where backing them feels more defensible against harder opposition.

If you have used England in the group stage and they are still available as a pick going into the Round of 32, congratulations: you have one of the most recognisable picks in the tournament still in your back pocket. Use them when you genuinely need them, not just because today feels right.

England in the knockouts are a reliable pick when the draw is favourable. The question is not whether England will win their Round of 32 match. The question is whether this is the correct moment in your pool's run to spend that pick.

Think one round ahead. That is what separates the LMS winners from the players who picked correctly every week and still ended up out in the semi-finals because they had nothing left.
